Dream Pony Personality Collections
Dream Pony Personality Collections, or the Persies as they've been dubbed by the hobby, were the yearly offering of specially painted and finished models. Persies are more highly shaded bodies than the regular runs and come in a wider range of colours. Some persies are patterned or dappled and many have mixed-colour hair.
They were also only available for a limited time. The Summer issue of the newsletter would announce the year's collection and offer them in advance to subscribers before releasing to the general public in September. The following year's collection would replace the previous year's models. The 1998/99 collection was due to run through August 1999, but with the sale of the company being announced in the 1999 Spring newsletter issue along with a clearance sale of models, it is doubtful the collection was produced for the full period.
While the 1990-1998 collections were numbered, the collections released after 2003 were not. The first collection of three models was released in 2004, with a second trio following in 2006. Both collections were available until 2008.
Three of the new millennium Persies, Cotton Candy, Flint, and Vanilla, were essentially re-issues while two of the others, Chief and Patches, very closely resembled earlier releases. All six sported recycled names, which can make identification a bit confusing at times.
Magpie Model Horses unofficially refers to the Adams-era releases as the 9th Persie Collection in order to acknowledge their place in the Magpie time-line and to start the new Magpie Model Horses Personality Collections off with an even number.
