Donkey
The 1992 Spring edition of the Magpie Newsletter unveiled a new face in the Magpie herd - an adorable little donkey with haired mane and tail and a rough textured coat.
The Donkey had been available as a regular part of the Dream Pony line since around 1973, but this was its first appearance as a Magpie.
Charlie Brown and Smokey Joe, the first Magpie releases on this mold, proved so popular the special run was offered again in the 1993 Spring issue and then added to the 1993 Personality Collection.
The hair used for the Magpie models was wool from a rare breed of sheep which proved to be very attractive to moths, so it is difficult to find them with hair in good condition. Dream Pony models used nylon which usually ages well.
This little guy is between the Welsh and the Shetland in size and has a textured coat like most of the other molds.
